
ALL-AROUND REQUIREMENTS
Please refer to AQHA Rule 417 - To be eligible for all-around honors, a horse in the open division, amateur division, or youth division must compete in at least three AQHA-approved events in one division (open, amateur or youth) in three or more categories. The categories are as follows:
CATEGORY I Halter/Performance Halter
CATEGORY II Reining, Working Cow, Western Riding, Trail
CATEGORY III Team Penning, Ranch Sorting, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending Stake Racing
CATEGORY IV Jumping, Working Hunter, Hunter Hack
CATEGORY V Western Pleasure, Hunter U/S, Pleasure Driving
CATEGORY VI Calf Roping, Breakaway, Heading, Heeling, Cutting
CATEGORY VII Showmanship, Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Equitation, Equitation O/F.
Contestants placing will be given a credit for each horse below them plus one credit with no more than nine points awarded. Example - a class with nine or more horses: 1st –9pts, 2nd –8pts, 3rd –7pts, etc. ; a class with five horses: 1st – 5pts, 2nd – 4pts, 3rd – 3pts, etc.
ALL-AROUND AWARDS
SENIOR HORSE • JUNIOR HORSE • AMATEUR • YOUTH 14-18 • YOUTH 13 & UNDER
Must show in all shows of the circuit
Must compete in three or more AQHA categories (see above). Halter classes count but are not mandatory.
NOVICE AMATEUR • NOVICE YOUTH • SELECT AMATEUR
Must show in all six shows of circuit
Only NOVICE Classes to count for NOVICE. Only SELECT Classes to count for SELECT.
Halter classes do not count towards all-around award for novice youth, novice amateur and select amateur.
CLASS CIRCUIT CHAMPION AWARDS
Must show under all judges. Ties will be broken by a pre–designated tie breaker judge
Circuit Champion Awards will be presented for each class (with a minimum of three entries) offered in each show. Horse must compete in each show to be eligible for that Circuit Championship.
HI-POINT AWARDS
WESTERN HORSE (Open, Amateur, Select Amateur, Novice Amateur, Youth 14-18, Youth 13 & under)
This award is determined by the most AQHA points accumulated in the following classes: Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Horsemanship and Trail. Each class counts towards High Point Award, but it is not mandatory to show in each.
ENGLISH HORSE (Open, Amateur, Select Amateur, Novice Amateur, Youth 14-18, Youth 13 & under)
This award is determined by the most AQHA points accumulated in the following classes: Working Hunter, Hunter Hack, Jumping, Hunter Under Saddle, Equitation O/F, Hunt Seat Equitation. Each class counts towards High Point Award, but it is not mandatory to show in each.
HIGH POINT GREEN HORSE: Awarded to the horse with the most points total who has shown in at least two of the five Green classes offered under all six judges. Green classes offered include: green western pleasure, green hunter under saddle, green trail, green western riding, green working hunter.
HIGH POINT CUTTING HORSE Awarded to the Junior or Senior horse/rider combo with highest AQHA points during the show. Must show all days of cutting. New in 2009: Riders will not be required to work-off for this prize. Based on points only.
HIGH POINT COW HORSE/REINING HORSE This award is determined by highest AQHA Exhibitor points earned in combination of Reining & Cowhorse classes - Based on Rider (Open, Amateur or Youth).
HIGH POINT ROPING HORSE (Open & Amateur) This award is determined by highest AQHA points accumulated on horse/rider combo. Must show under all judges.
Any awards not picked up at the show may be shipped at the exhibitor’s expense or returned to show inventory.
